Why an ambient border glow?

A tiny webcam light is easy to miss when your focus is on the screen.

Problem
Webcam indicators are easy to miss. In multi-display setups, nocturne workflows, or immersive work, a tiny camera LED sits outside your field of focus. Browser tabs blur together, and background meeting applications keep active cameras open without clear signals.
Solution
The edge of your viewport becomes the indicator. When any application requests the camera, EdgeLight instantly paints a click-through glowing border around the display. It requires no focus, doesn't interfere with clicks, and fades out only after every camera session releases.
How it works
EdgeLight listens strictly to Windows OS camera usage signals. It reads the local registry camera signal at HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CapabilityAccessManager\ConsentStore\webcam and hooks into WMI process events as a backup mechanism. EdgeLight is built to protect, not inspect. We operate strictly on state flags, never on content feeds.

Data Access
Zero camera feed access. EdgeLight does not open your webcam stream, capture images, record audio, or read frames. It works purely on system-level state flags.
Network
No telemetry. No network requests, analytics pipelines, crash reporting servers, or database syncs. Your logs and settings stay local to your computer.
Registry
Settings are stored locally under %APPDATA%\EdgeLight. The optional startup option uses only the standard current-user Run key in the Windows Registry.
Install
Installs per-user to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\EdgeLight. Requires no admin privileges to run or configure. Shows a first-run privacy dialog to explain operation details.
Uninstall
Clean removal. Uninstall EdgeLight via Windows Settings > Apps, or run the standard uninstaller built into the setup program. Zero leftover background services.
Disclaimer
Unsigned builds may trigger a Windows SmartScreen alert on first run until the repository reaches code-signing reputation levels.
